How Smarthome sees motion detectors

For now I use the X10 based Motion Detectors from http://www.x10.com which send out a powerline signal when they see motion. These signals are picked up by the LynxX10Interface where they are fed through a serial port to one of the servers in my system. That server interprets the serial protocol and sends a CORBA message to TheBrain which in turn decides what if any action should be taken in response. In some cases the event is simply logged. In other cases the brain reacts by logging the event, instructing one of the Smarthome Servers to have its Microsoft Agent verbally announce the motion, then requests an image capture from one of the video servers, depositing that image in the filestore database, then also sending that image to one of the SmarthomeServer machines for use as desktop wallpaper. All of this behavior is easily configurable by changing the Prolog rules.
